Phytosophie

'THE INVISIBLE MAN'

DanIEL Workman

I haven′t always been invisible. It′s a recent thing. I′m a writer, reader, teacher and tinkerer. At times I′ve been a graduate student, carpet cleaner, salesperson, punk rocker and offshore roughneck. I began my music career as the guitarist of Culturcide.

I managed to leverage my noise-rock credentials and continue work in the mainstream, engineering and producing records for famous rock bands and pop stars.

I met Phytosophie by chance at the water fountain at SugarHill Recording Studios in Houston, Texas. She said she was a poet I told her I was a writer. She said she was a performance artist I said that I was one, too. I offered to share my work. She promised to listen.

Within a month we began to send songs and sounds back and forth on 16,162 kilometer round trips.

Sometime during our first meeting, that water fountain turned into The Oracle, and I became a new thing: Phytosophie′s invisible man and musical soul mate in the phyto-realm.

We created a world of our own : PHYTOLAND.

Omid Amiri Larijani - Saxophonist

I came across PHYTOLAND accidentally. During my first months in Paris and in a very random situation and I had been jamming with variety of people.

In one case, it became obvious to me that this sounds more than a jam,  although it was in that very moment that we met.

I could hear I could explore more and more with this particular artist, Phytosophie.

Since then, I have been working with her on her live projects and recordings.

I am a practitioner of Jazz and improvised music and I found Phytosophie's music, visions and concepts a safe and free place to let my musical ideas and expressions flow, live and fuse with her compositions.

It is an ongoing journey in PHYTOLAND, Phytosophie is a traveler and visionary, also the Invisible Man is a magic man.

I hope you, the listener, will join us for the ride.

PHYTO REALM

Nancy agin dunnahoe - Poet, writer, concepteur & curator

The universe drew me to the phytorealm through a chance encounter with Dan Workman. I first met The Invisible Man while researching Culturcide for my Houston underground arts and culture archival project "Wild Dog Archives".

Through this introduction to Dan’s music and creative vision, I discovered his latest collaboration with Paris-based poet, musician, and performance artist Phytosophie.

Curiosity led me to a series of filmed performances, and I fell down a rabbit hole when I heard Phytosophie's voice, this magnetic and futuristic sound -- letting my mind open to her surreal language (like William S. Burroughs’ cut-ups) set to electronic beats, guitar, and saxophone.

I have since gifted my ideas and words to help promote Phytosophie & The Invisible Man in Houston.

Collectively, we describe this experience as space travel, a magic show and electronic poetry for the mind.
